Re: A little question

That sounds more like what we call Babble on mine. Where a real person or member goes off topic and talks about anything.

We actually encourage that, but we're weird.....

Most spammers, whether a real person or an ASP (Automatic Submission Program) have a product or a site they're trying to promote. Look for links in their posts or their signatures. Typical spam links take you to ads for sexual enhancement drugs such as Viagra, porn sites, or knock-off watches.

Re: A little question

A lot of forums have started preventing newly registered members from posting links until they reach a certain number of posts as a spam measure. So, I've seen some spambots that will register and post junk, hoping it won't get noticed. Or they'll try to spam via their profile, since some have a spot to add your website.

In almost all cases, the goal is to get their links on your site. They want to leverage your PageRank to climb to the top of search results.
