Search on email address returns no results

As the extension writer for the phpBB extension stopforumspam I am continually asked why email addresses when searched return no results, eg

https://www.stopforumspam.com/search/?q=marhtapoipt@xgen.eng.lat

and yet using the api it does

https://api.stopforumspam.org/api?email=marhtapoipt@xgen.eng.lat

The same also happens with IP addresses. Granted this is a "sometimes" but still why is that?

[edit]Ahhh, the 255 times means it's a toxic email domain. Answered my own question.[/edit]
