How do I add a spammer to the list?
I have a key. I've been tracking this little t*rd for some hours and did a google on him. Bad mother if I have done my home work correctly and understand what I have found.
Please advise
Edit
Ok found it on the email you guys sent me. Sorry about that
I want to make sure I have this correct before I add this sucker to the list.
Can I discuss him here and post his IP here for you guys to coinfirm before I add it to the list.
First time I would have done this and do not want to screw up.
Please advise
Thanks
XCZ

Thanks. It was finding the page that I had the problem with but all good now. Many thanks
Ok
First a little back ground. I monitor my visitors quite often and check their IPs, which I can see live, against the data base here and then if no hit here I do a google on the IP. The idea is stop them before they even get a chance to start registering.
Indications of a potential spammer are them viewing the same topic for a long period of time. Especially ones that I know has no post in them.
So whilst doing that this evening, Australia time, I picked up this IP
64.1.215.162 . No hit here on ya list but when I googled it, well have a look for yourselves. Now corrcet me if I'm wrong, as I'm very new at this, but from what i read on all the topics listed on google.... SPAMMER, yes????

Re: How do I add a spammer to the list?
I would say no. IMO, this is just a webcrawler, just like Google or Yahoo! and webcrawlers (or spiders) are sent to index your web site. Letting webcrawlers index your web site helps you get a better ranking.
64.1.215.162 Host -> crawl-6.cuill.com
Cuil is a new search engine, I believe.

Re: How do I add a spammer to the list?
No problem, I am always suspicious too and this is some of the stuff I had to learn along the way.
Just make sure you tell the webcrawlers/spiders/bots where they are free to go though via a robots.txt file. I think you can find some info in here by searching for the robots.txt file and through Google as well. A rogue webcrawler will not listen to that file and there's nothing you can do about it, but cuilbots, googlebots and yahoo!bots will listen to it.

Re: How do I add a spammer to the list?
Just an FYI, the following allows you to check the following databases to see if an IP, e-mail or username belongs to a spammer;
http://www.stopforumspam.com/forum/p219 … 3A02#p2196
- Sorbs*
- Spamhaus*
- DSBL*
- fSpamlist
- StopForumSpam
* IP checking only obviously

This is a good read to learn about that robots.txt file
