WHOIS
Does e-mailing the "abuse" address sometimes listed on these actually achieve anything??

In most cases, it is completely pointless.

Re: WHOIS
It depends. I know we monitor our abuse address and act on legit complaints.
What bothers me is services and sites that brag about how they follow up on abuse complaints but in real life, they rarely do.
