Username API versus search
When using the API, most of the "normal" names (ie. firstname lastname) that are being used on my contact form report back to me as a spammer, while entering the same name on the Search form doesn't report it as being a spammer ?
Could it be that the API is only using the firstname ?
For a test, just try with "George Bush" ;-) The API reports this name as a spammer, last seen on 2009-11-28 19:28:03 with 83 hits, while the search http://www.stopforumspam.com/advancedse … =&to_year= doesn't list it ?

Re: Username API versus search
In my opinion, usernames of spammers should only be used to "firm up" a judgment on whether a username is a spammer or not.
If username X shows as being a spammer, and some of the other places it has been seen are within the same www.xxx.yyy.0/24 or even www.xxx.0.0/16 address blocks, then you might ban them.
If spammer at www.xxx.yyy.zzz has used the name X before, even if it is a dialup, or dynip ISP, chances are very good it's the same jerkwad again.

Correct, but what is the point in using a "wildcard" type search on the API, and not on the Search ?
