Moron.
Take your compliants up with MysteryFCM, he posts his updates here for the code he writes, so that people on his site and the people here can benefit. Your ranting about code that has very little to do with this site, about a another website, is going to get what exactly?

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
Very odd, but I had almost the same exact problem with a character named Autocrat on my forum. Wanted me to do a whole bunch of modifications to ZB Block to work around his host's problems, including some that would be exploitable.
The problem, after all, was improper use, or lack of use, of umask to prevent php on a *nix system from generating "Nobody" owned restricted r/w files. Very outside the scope of what ZB Block tries to do, and extremely hard to debug a problem like that on a windows host.
But his incessant impatience for a half-arsed work-around fix ticked me off long before I found the answer to the problem, and he got launched. We now have our doubts about the veracity of his problem, and a couple of us suspect the drive of the situation was to have some exploitable code written into my project.
I feel we are beginning to win the war, and the enemy is becoming frustrated...

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
I have had a few users telling me they were having problems both contacting me, and using the SBST. One user narrowed it down to undisposable.net, and I stupidly didn't think to check the site myself at the time.
Checking undisposable.net today shows the site is offline. It's still resolving to 64.202.189.170, but no content is there, so it's failing to connect. There's no contact information in the WhoIs for the site so I've no way of contacting the sites owner to find out whats going on.
Until the site is back, those of you using the Spambot Search Tool should disable the undisposable.net check by changing the following in config.php;
$bBlockDisposable = TRUE; // undisposable.net
To;
$bBlockDisposable = FALSE; // undisposable.net

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
Version: 0.46 Date/Time: 25/03/2010 03:37:55
- Removed undisposable.net query and related code
+ Added additional error handling
+ Added whitelist facility (whitelist.txt)
Ref: http://support.it-mate.co.uk/?mode=Prod … rchtool#71
+ Added additional code to prevent submit.php being accessed directly
Notes:
You can remove the line in config.php pertaining to undisposable.net ($bBlockDisposable). It's now highly unlikely the site is coming back any time soon.

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
I've re-released v0.46 due to a bug that produces a warning when checking the whitelist when it's empty.
Sorry folks.

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
Hi, it looks very good and I would very much like to use it on my server.
I am able to change php.ini settings but there is one basic problem.
you suggest this:
allow_url_fopen MUST be enabled in php.ini
but my setup cannot change for security reasons and must be:
allow_url_fopen = 0
that's because I use Joomla 1.5.* on the sites I administer
see this list here:
http://docs.joomla.org/Security_Checkli … rver_Setup
any help on this appreciated.
cheers and congrats

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
As you can overwrite default php fnuctions, a function could be used to wrap getfilecontents in cURL, if you have it. If you dont, then you dont really have anyway of retrieving remote content.

I downloaded the check_spammers.zip
I suppose this is for viewing things remotely after your reply huh...
do I only need the check_spammers_plain.php if I only want to view things via the site ? you mention about this here:

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
Four consecutive post in many forums is considered as spam. If your problem is so severe and urgent, you can install ZB Block.
First of all thanks for the link and for the advice in who to contact in your previous reply. But please read this.
If I were you, I would not consider such posts here as spam. I am interested in your site and service and this makes me post about problems I faced. I am here for a certain reason and that is the reason your site and service exists. So talking about spam and relating it to my previous posts is not so wise from your side. Reconsider what you are telling me once I am not new to forums at all. I really wouldn't expect such a reply from you, but helpful advices in my problem. If you personally don't know how to help in this case, you can easily not get angry with users. Active users post remember this. Spammers exist on the lists and do not talk like I do.
Thanks for reading.
I will be happy to make it work. If I find the solution myself shall I come back and post about it ? or will you consider my post a spam ?
cheers

Re: Spambot detector (with the use of this API)
Apologies for taking so long (meds knocked me out).
allow_url_fopen is required for file_get_contents and file_put_contents. These functions are used to save results to text files, and to pull results (where cURL is not available) from remote servers.
