Wish to use SFS on a Joomla site with phpBB forum - help please?
Hi,
Newbie here (please be kind ) I hope that I've posted this in the right place.
I first heard of StopForumSpam from another website's forum.
Background
OK, I'm designing a community website (for outdoor events) and wish to use the latest version of Joomla as the CMS and the latest version of phpBB. I'll probably use the Joomla extension Community Builder as well, I'm still deciding on the best bridge to connect Joomla and phpBB (advice welcome here although that's not my reason for posting).
I may be trying to run before I can walk, but it would be good to know which way to design the website.
Questions
Hopefully the above will give you enough information in order to help me.
1. I'm guessing that it's probably best to use Community Builder to get the user register details for both Joomla and phpBB, is this correct?
2. What's the best addon for Community Builder (or Joomla) that can automatically check the StopForumSpam database?
3. Should (or when) I need to ban users for spamming, is there an automatic way to send the necessary details of the spammer back to StopForumSpam, without having to manually sign onto this website?
Many thanks,

Look at the top of this page:
Resources > Mods & Plugins has links to SFS plugins/modules for many CMS'
OTOH, you could always use ZB Block, which doesn't require any CMS (it's standalone)

I couldn't find any for either Joomla or Community Builder.

Thanks - that might be the way forward. If the bridge that I use will work both ways then banning/deleting a user in phpBB should be replicated in Joomla/Community Builder.
Thanks,

Hello,
For Community Builder and Joomly I wrote a small plugin to check people registering against the SFS webpage.

Hi limsurvey,
Thanks for the post.
I stayed with Joomla, I decided to use Kunena instead of phpBB as Kunena is a component of Joomla that doesn't require any bridges, I found a very useful Joomla extension that uses Stop Forum Spam which is called SpambotCheck, by vi-solutions. SpambotCheck works really well.
Unfortunately I had to drop the use of Community Builder because SpambotCheck only worked with the standard Joomla login component (not the Community Builder login) and the control of spam is far more important to me than the things that Community Builder offered me.
When I get time, I may have a look at your plugin in for Community Builder but as I've already said - I do like SpambotCheck and if vi-solutions develop SpambotCheck so that it can be used with Community Builder then I would seriously consider using Community Builder.
My website is still very much a work in progress, but you can see it at:
