Use of the SFS Signature, Website & Username Fields

Because this is the last place we'd expect to find spam or commercial advertising as part of our members profile and posts, the following guidelines are now in effect. We will not permit signature links or website fields or usernames that contain:

• Linking to any form of pornography.
• Any "SEO" type forum or website.
• Any type of "hacking" website.
• Any website or forum that is commercial in nature (selling a product or service).

Usernames/Handles must NOT represent the domain name of your (or any) website.
Do not include a TLD as part of your username.

If the flavor of your website is to sell or promote a product or service, is "SEO" in nature, includes hacking and related agenda, or is of "adult nature", DO NOT link to it unless otherwise previously requested to do so by a member of the SFS team for support reasons. Any member from this point forward who uses the SFS signature or website field(s) to link to such websites will be banned from this system and your details entered into the database for "Profile Spamming".

Black Hat SEO and Hacking type forums and websites are prohibited from using this service. API keys will be revoked; your data entered into the database.

If you're unsure about your website or forum, by all means PM one of us with the link you intend to use and we'll let you know privately, beforehand. We're not looking to "catch" anyone, but we are looking to maintain our goal here, as well as on your forum!

Note however, we're not rummaging through the member list looking for "violators", however, if a spammy signature, profile or username is brought to our attention, it will be dealt with accordingly.

When in doubt, don't. Or, ask (via PM) before you include it in your member details. As a reminder, here's the TOS excerpt you agreed upon when you registered here:

Posting links, backlinks, SEO or anything else dubious or illegal, in signatures or posts, will result in your account being banned.  If in doubt, just don't do it.  Harsh?  Perhaps but this is the last forum in the world that will tolerate forum spam smile

The above has been expanded to include commercial and sales type websites as well as usernames that represent a domain name/website which caters to the above. If you run Google.Com, your username is Google and NOT google.com. Register with a handle such as this will result in banning and database entry.

Stay on the safe side, folks. If you have a website where you sell trinkets on the side, but cater to a hobby, profession or other passion as your primary focus, please simply link to your forum and not your main index page.

Finally, if you're offering any "free" service but also include a "donate here" thing, that's fine. As long as your main objective isn't sales, we won't consider it commercial advertising. However, all else applies. You must still have a forum, blog, gallery, etc, and one that's "in-use", not some dummy app you've just created ;-)

If you find that your link has been removed, and you re-submit it, you will be banned from this forum and your details entered into the database without warning or notification.
