What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

This is a very simple request, (test),.. Please let us know if you experience any delays in the time it takes a page to load.
On this public board, and also on the other boards that only registered members can view/post on. Include what browser you are using, and perhaps how it compares to other forums as well,...For example:
I am using FireFox, my ISP is usually rather slow. However I usually do not experience any delays when loading pages on the forum,
Occasional I do get a delay, and it says "please wait, checking your browser", or something like that, but it is only occasionally, and never takes very long. Also it does not seem to matter which board I am posting or viewing.

Thank you

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

My delay is with loading the forum index page (it is bookmarked and therefore a direct load), and that often takes many seconds. Chromium browser (open-source Chrome): Version 73.0.3683.75 (Developer Build) built on Debian 9.8, running on Debian 9 (64-bit) (actually Devuan GNU/Linux 2.0 (ascii)).

The "please wait, checking your browser" message comes only in specialised situations (posting a message, I think).

I did experience some delays yesterday, and some pages sometimes didn't load properly at all, but that definitely isn't the norm for me; I don't normally experience such delays with SFS at all.

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

I'm on rather slow speed DSL (1mb connection lol--to save $$$$) and while the service is albeit slower than my cable connection (10mb) the pages have been rather snappy(ier?) and no issues at SFS since the conversion about ... a month-ish ago for me.

I'm trying to get my head around why page load times are now twice what they were.  I'm going to spend some time trying to get to the bottom of just whats going on here

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

For me I've narrowed it down to when I make the transition from forum to website and back to forum again (like checking brownie point stats LOL.) tongue

On firefox in the developer's tools the loading page times get into rather long/large boxes.

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

Just experienced my umpteenth "Error 522" from Cloudflare. I then 'click for the live version' and always get through. So far.

There is nothing special that seems to lead to this: click on a forum link, post link, whatever.

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

I just received two Cloudflare 522's in a row ... I was in the forum, and clicked the SFS logo at top left to return to the homepage.

The first 522 did not give me a "click for live version" button. When I hit Refresh, that option was provided. On clicking it, I was able to see the homepage.

thanks everyone.  i'm going to spend what time I can this weekend in trying to diagnose just whats going on.

when you got a 522, did it happen to split second you clicked on a link or did it take 10-15 seconds before it errored?

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

It took a little time before it came up, but not a lot. Therefore, neither 'split second' nor '10-15 seconds'.

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

im playing with cloudflare settings this morning, and I'll set up a script to try to monitor 522,ttfb, and page load times, just to see if I can replicate just what's going on

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

For me, the 522 is within half a second, practically instantly considering my connection. When I have 8-9 second pauses, the requested page normally comes up.

if you get a 522, can you please post the ray_id that cf provides on the error page?  I'm going to raise a ticket and I just know that they'll be asking for this

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

right then, building new webservers and new load balancers right now

i have this strange feeling that this all started when upgrading haproxy to find an issue with it sending http traffic to a node that was marked down.

Re: What is the typical page loading time , and members experience? (test)

new load balancers built, and my tests on the servers themselves show pages returning in 10 ms so its time to look towards the CF->SFS links

(a new registrant posted that he was "going to spend what time I can this weekend in trying to diagnose just whats going on") re: a 2-year-old thread regarding tests on this forum. I think not. The post was deleted & the author will now be carefully watched.)
