Joomla forum getting validate API key error

My website uses Joomla and specifically the Kunena forum.

When I ban someone in the forum I get this error message:

"error while reporting the user to stopforumspam.com. reason given: could not validate api key"

Any ideas what is causing this and how to resolve it?

Thanks.

Re: Joomla forum getting validate API key error

Hi Slippery_Jim, welcome to SFS.

That error message does not help.

Collect the (minimum) 3 bits of info that you need to report a recent spammer and try to manually report it (Add Spam Data). Report back with the result, including any error message.

If a manual submission at the SFS website is successful, then try a manual submission via a terminal from your server; you should get a better error message (perhaps) using this manual submission method.

Re: Joomla forum getting validate API key error

Hi !

Well, you should also (first ?) verify that you have your own API key and it's valid smile

If it's a bug with your forum software or the SFS mod you're using, (you should know if it's the case after testing the manual methods proposed by Alex) you'll probably find better support near the software's author.

The forum doesn't provide support concerning the various implementations in various software, it just provides the API ...
But some software authors help  (try to help) though smile

Yup, I have an API key and it has worked in the past.   Who knows if it is valid?  This website doesn't give any feedback about that.

I will do that the next time a spammer posts.

Thanks.

You can check it at User Panel | API Keys (you will need to be logged in to get a result).
