Strict check on username

Did a search and it returned nada. As within the search "exact match" is there a way to use the API to do the same? Currently it seems that the username is wildcarded when used in the API. I am appending [c]nobadusername&json[/c] to the end of the string

Re: Strict check on username

username is strict, its stored as a SHA1 hash in Redis.  Even the blacklists for usernames like xrumer etc, are exact match only.
There isnt code support for username partial match.  Do you have an example?

Re: Strict check on username

Mea culpa. A user reported to me that the names were blocked. Upon further investigation it was due to users inputting very generic user names like Tom, Peter, etc. So the issue boiled down to PEBKAC. Nothing to do here but I do appreciate you getting back to me.

BTW, my extension now supports phpBB versions 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3. You may want to update the Mods and plugins page. wink

Will do.  I need to chat to you about APIv2 path as well.  Would you mind if I emailed you?

Re: Strict check on username

RMcGirr83,

So if I was named Tom and wanted to use that as my username on your forum i'd be instabanned? yikes lol. Talk about the iron fist of web censorship pal.
