Report "Contact Us" Spam?
Every once in a while my logs show some spammer tried to use the Contact Us page to send spam. It never goes through but I'd like to report it. However, this type of spam doesn't fit the normal rules for submitting reports. I.e., the name field is a url address, email is never a vaild email, and the spammer does not need to register to use the Contact Us page. I do not log the message sent as its often very long. So what can I do? Should I just submit a spam report leaving the name and email as it was logged?

Re: Report "Contact Us" Spam?
the spammer does not need to register to use the Contact Us page
Hi MasterWolf
The section quoted above is the key feature. You cannot report this spam, since you do not have all the key details required to be able to report. If you had all three (name, email + IP address) (plus spam message itself as evidence) then it could be added to the DB. Without those three, then no.
Note in particular that the email address--one of the most important--needs to be a confirmed address. That is is only confirmed with a registered user.
Sorry.

I recommend requiring the user to be logged in to use the contact form, that way everything is already confirmed with your login system. In the future you'll have the evidence that you need to report the spam
