No, it is today, that is why we have a saying in spanish, "manana nunca llega", (tomorrow never comes ),
But maybe with the reminder he will get back on that sometime, smile

Good to hear as I'm a 3.0.X holdout as well. Not going to make the change until the extension is available.

I have submitted the extension to the database at phpbb.com for validation.

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

Although I don't use phpBB (did so in the past extensively, prior to building a CMS and forum system for myself years back), I've followed/subscribed to the associated GitHub repository for your extension to keep an eye on how things go; Looking interesting. :-)

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

In that this was submitted for 3.1.4 and phpbb just released 3.1.5, will Anti-Spam work with the latest?

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

Things are usually forward compatible in minor updates like this.  3.2 might be a different story.

i can finally sit down today and get my head to stop spinning.  I'll "fire up the quattro" (points if you get the reference) and install 3.15 to test.

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

The ability to use a SFS capable extension has been a major reason that I have not moved to 3.1.x.  I have two 3.0.14 forums that use Anti-Spam 1.0.6 which has been working without issue. I also have 34 other mods that have been applied to phpbb, all via the automod process when they were installed. I mention this because I don't know diddly about coding phpbb. Some of the mods have taken a bit of tweaking as the 3.0.x moved up the upgrade chain but I managed to figure them out.

The mods are a mixture of features and tools for both the user and myself as admin. I look at the move to 3.1.5 and I'm not sure I have the energy to start over so I've started to think about being a 3.0.x refugee like the phpbb2 users.

In thinking about being a holdout I feel that by the time the Anti-Spam (SFS able) extension has been approved, looking at the approval process timelines, 3.1.X  will be at half live. 2016 will bring 3.2 and there will be others to follow. This is not a criticism of the work that has gone into the Anti-Spam extension by any means but I do feel the phpbb life lines are too aggressive. This might be why a lot of mods are not being rewritten as extensions.

I've installed 3.1.x (from the start) but all I really see is another "plain Jane" version of phpbb that might be rich in code but lacks a lot of curb appeal on the user side. I read all about all the security features but 3.1.x did take quite a "toasting" from someone. I'm sure that anything can be breached but there was a lot of selling being done about how secure the new stuff was and this is the reason everyone needs to move up. The phpbb coders also seem to take a stance that anti-spam measures are not needed. Take a look at any "I'm being spammed" topic on phpbb.com/community and you see that the big dogs don't seem think it is a big deal and can be addressed by writing better registration questions, etc. To a guy or gal that started the forum to support an avocation, the task of removing the daily spammers is a big deal as they occupy the time you had hoped to spend enjoying your vocation.

The amount of work ahead of me has been weighing heavily on me. I started a topic on phpbb/community voicing some of the things I've mentioned above. In that topic, I stated that there are "Those that enjoy programming forum software as a vocation and those that are looking for forum software to support their vocation." I've come to feel that a lot of the movement up the version scale is a result of the first part of that statement.

If I don't remain a 3.0.x holdout and given the work ahead, I might as well look at a move from phpbb to other brandings. Anti-Spam with SFS is driving my interest so I've started to download test forums that have plugs-in listed above. Might as well check everything out. I did have a marketing firm express an interest in one of my forums so I'm even looking at paid software (vBulletin) to make what I have even more marketable down the road.

The Audi that sold on eBay?

Kind of like the "that thing got a Hemi?" here in the US. I have a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 and stopped counting the times that people shouted that at me while stopped at traffic lights. In that it has the Hemi branding on it, I got to the point were I shouted back, "what's a matter, can't you read!"

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

Good news for everyone.  The extension has been validated and released into the customization database on phpBB.  https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/exte … orum_spam/

It will work on any version of phpBB in the 3.1 branch as long as the version is greater than 3.1.14.

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

I came here because i like the plugin for phpBB - but it does not allow for automatic submission of blocked IPs to stopforumspam, right? Or did i miss something?

Nope, you would need evidence for each otherwise you would be database stuffing.

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

Hi anne_hh

BlueSage's statement is misleading.

The FAQ on usage is here (this governs search, not submit).

In general, SFS does NOT allow auto-submission (you can auto-search via the API, as long as you do not use SFS as a firewall) (any reputable plugin will stay within the rules). Explicitly, you need permission from the SFS controller to auto-submit. Please note that this also governs honeypots.

The reason is easy to understand:- the API would allow someone with malicious intent to place thousands of false entries into the DB in a short period of time. In a word, pollute it. Because of this, the numbers allowed to auto-submit is small, to make policing easy.

Re: phpBB 3.1 Extension

There now (May 2016) is a phpBB 3.1 Stop Forum Spam extension available directly from the phpbb site extension repository. Navigate : Phpbb Home -> Customisation Database -> Extension -> Anti-Spam.
