HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
If you've signed up for an API key and have contributed more than ten spammers, you are eligible to be listed/linked from the contributors page.
This is totally optional and everyone is not listed by default. First, you need a forum account so register for one if you haven't already. Be sure and use the same email address you used to sign up for your API key.
Once you're registered, go ahead and log in. Then at the forum header at the top, click on API keys. You'll see a table listing each API key and site, along with how many entries have been submitted. There's a check box next to each one labeled "Public?", click that and press the "Update" button at the bottom and your site will be listed on the contributors page.
If you need a key once registered, you need to go to the signup page

Is it possible to change your website address? Mine has changed...
I only like Spam if it is Deep Fried and served with Cheese.
But only once every six months or so.

Yes, you need to post the details here so that we can manually update the database.

Yes I hope to make this user-controllable one day but for now it's a manual process on our end.

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
Ok, cool... Do you need my API Key to change it? If not, could you change mine from http://theperfectpage.org to http://naturalyard.ca? If you do need it, should I post it or is that not a good idea?

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
I use my api on two sites that I mod. on. Can I enter both as a contributor? The one that's not listed is actually the main one where the majority of my entries originate from.
Thanks! ![]()

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
I don't see why not, I do this myself. It's about logging spammers in which to help keep them off peoples sites. Where the information comes from is irelevent however accuracy and fact is the key.
Spam - Uninteresting garbage quickly deleted.
Spammer - A parasitic worm intent on creating internet misery.

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
Its due to the way that the API and the forum are configured in the database in how the users are configured in both. They arent configured in the best way but we are working on streamlining the database to allow anyone to do this themselves.
If you have multiple API keys/websites or changes to be made, please PM/email me and Ill change them when I have a moment.

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
I have one API that I use for both websites. Spud, I can see your point, but the main site is the one where most of the spammers are busted. The one listed is just a 'baby' site that we just started.
I'll PM you, Pedigree, and thanks.

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
Some of us clean up other sites for people too... and in actuality, it shows you care about 1. Keeping spam off your site, and 2. Keeping spam off other sites.
Zap ![]()
P.S. Did you know that your IP address is listed on both the UCEPROTECT Level 2 and Level 3 blocklists. Also TrustedSource.org flags it as High Risk. This weighs heavily against what you said... although it mostly has to do with mailspam, usually the compromised sending mail servers are doing forum spamming too.
P.P.S. Also your e-mail address is very suspicious. Did you know this site can "burn through" gmail/googlemail perioded and plussed email address obfuscation? Spam once with any gmail address, and that account becomes worthless to register on any site tied into this system.

Quite the contrary...
I would guess that most of the top 30 contributors have automated anti-bot countermeasures in place to automatically ban & report these pests to SFS (my board is one of them, and so is SFS).
There is only one exception I can think of at the moment, he's deleted & reported 1000s of bots manually,
now, THAT'S dedication !
as it is with all the contributors who enter the spammer data by hand .
So I would say that the sites on the contributors page have little or no spam on their forums .

To the contrary I have NO spam on my site at all. I am very vigerous in deleting and recording them. In the months IssViews has been in operation (Oct 09) I have had 2 known spammers register on the forum and 5 on the blog. All were dealt with quickly and efficiently.
Now, you say, "this can't be right as you have recorded over 600 spammers here and your site is listed in the contributers". Yes, indeed it is but the spammers have been detected and recorded here from another big security site that I happen to moderate. I could not be bothered to have several API keys to simply have to use in which to report spammer and have them listed individually on the contributer page. It does not matter which site I list as the reporter, it's the spammers details that are recorded that is paramount. I simply chose to use the one site (my site) to record all.
I record spammers manually and not by automation. Slower but I dont yet have more than 10 a day to list on any of the sites I am moderating or running. I beleieve that my contribution not only helps secure my own site from spammers but help immensly with other admins in keeping their sites from being bombarded too.

Re: HOW TO get listed on the Contributors Page
When does a page shows up on the contributors page? Are there some rules, for example a minimum amount of posted spam data?
