The Latest News from Avira
The news spreads on the net that a new, giant botnet has been detected, named "Kneber". It seems to have hijacked more than 75,000 PCs world-wide, also in companies and government nets.
Upon closer investigation it turns out that the Kneber botnet is yet another ZeuS botnet. ZeuS is a Malware Construction Kit with which every cyber criminal can build his own botnet and individual malware. The resulting malware is called ZBot, usually.
It's functions are typical for ZBots: It steals online banking data as well as account data of social networks. It is often disguised as FakeAV solution on malicious web sites.
Avira is always getting the most recent samples of ZBot and adds continuous new detections.Dirk Knop

Re: The Latest News from Avira
I hate to have to be blunt here and will probably get shot down for this remark however communist countries (and former members) are the biggest culprits of online crime in my opinion. I know there are some good people in these countries who are the exception but they seem to be dwarfed by the magnitude of crime committed by the remainder.
Russia's dropping of Communism and the KGB merely opened up a can of worms, as we are seeing today. At least, back then, these criminal vermin were kept mostly in check where now they have a free reign ![]()

Re: The Latest News from Avira
Russia currently is the country of contrasts. Many poor people and very wealthy oligarchy. And this oligarchy uses the mind and the work of talented poor people for their criminal purposes. And of course to accumulate more money... A poor Russians changed their masters with some new and perhaps a new worse. I had friends in Russia and lost contact with them. They now do not think of friendship and fighting for survival. Or leaving Russia...

Re: The Latest News from Avira
We have the same here in the UK. We call them ministers within the government who are prone to greed and falsifying expenses for their own ends. The rich get richer and the poor poorer. The only difference between the UK and Russia is they do it more descreetly here and within the law yet still manage to rip everyone off.
